Inaugural SYLP Economics Summer Camp takes place at University of Delaware
The inaugural SYLP Economics Summer Camp was recently held at the University of Delaware for high school students and rising college freshmen from various schools in the Delaware area. The students had days filled with learning and fun. They attended lectures held by several professors, including University of Delaware’s Dr. Carlos Asarta and Hillsdale College’s Dr. Roger Butters, as well as Lauren Campbell, Siegfried Southeast Regional Chief of Staff.
The students were engaged and inspired by the small group, college classroom setting of the program. They were eager to learn and contribute to the economics, leadership, and entrepreneurship topics. They participated in many activities, including attending a minor league baseball Blue Rocks game, going to the movies, getting water ice and ice cream, and an escape room challenge.

“Thank you for the leadership conference. After last year’s, I’ve been excited for the next one. I’ve had my struggles, like everyone has, and sometimes I find myself feeling a little lost and feeling like I’m just faking who I am out of comfort. This year, I felt like I really connected to what the speaker said. It helped me reevaluate some of my thoughts and feelings, and how to keep pushing forward. Thank you for creating a safe environment for us to share and expand.”
